VRI (Vascular and Interventional Radiology)

Vascular and interventional radiology (VIR) is a sub specialty of radiology which uses minimally invasive image guided procedures to both diagnose and treat a variety of conditions. Ernst radiology has several radiologists expertly trained in the use of these techniques.

A sample of the VIR procedures performed include:

Catheter angiography for management of peripheral vascular disease

Patient Preparation

Depending on what type of VIR procedure you are having, preparation can vary. Many of our procedures use moderate sedation and thus patient’s are asked to not eat or drink anything beyond midnight the night before the procedure. Additionally some procedures carry a bleeding risk or require IV dye and thus lab work to assess clotting and kidney function may be required. Our staff will contact you the day before your procedure to answer any questions and to review the pre-op instructions.
