MRI (Magnetic
Resonance Imaging)
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is an advanced imaging technique in which a powerful
magnetic field is applied to the patient to create highly detailed pictures of the
body. MRI images show excellent contrast between the different soft tissues in our
bodies thus making it especially useful in imaging the brain, musculoskeletal system,
the heart, the breasts, and abdomen. Unlike CAT scan or traditional X-Rays, MRI
uses no radiation thus making it a very safe imaging technique.
The Ernst Radiology Clinic employs fellowship trained expert radiologists to provide
interpretation of all MRI examinations performed at our three locations. We have
Open MRI at both St. Clare Health Center and DePaul Health Center to suit our claustrophobic
and larger patients. We have an ultra high magnetic field 3 Tesla MRI at St. Clare
Health Center for advanced high resolution imaging protocols. Additionally, we have
high magnetic field 1.5 Tesla MRI at both DePaul Health Center and SSM/CDI Imaging
in North County.
